Capsule Hôtel Saint-Laurent is 56 capsules sitting right on Boulevard Saint-Laurent, steps from the metro and the Quartier des spectacles. It's the most walkable of our three hotels: you step outside, and the city starts on the sidewalk.
Montrealers call it The Main. Boulevard Saint-Laurent is the official line that separates the city's east and west — and, for over a century, the corridor where Montreal eats, goes out and reinvents itself. It's a National Historic Site of Canada, and simply put, it's where the most happens after dark.
Eating on The Main
The Main is, first, a food story. Head north up the boulevard and you'll hit the quintessential Montreal institution: Schwartz's, the smoked-meat counter open since 1928. Down south, Chinatown begins a few minutes' walk away — dim sum, noodles and boba late into the night.
- Smoked meat and historic delis as you head up toward the Plateau
- Chinatown to the south, for late and inexpensive eats
- Third-wave cafés and terrasses all along the boulevard
- From pizza by the slice to chef's tables — The Main covers every budget
Going out, after dark
If you pick the Plateau and The Main, it's usually for the night. Cocktail bars, music venues, clubs and terrasses cluster here: it's the part of town where you don't need to plan your evening — you walk, you walk in. And when it's over, your capsule is a few steps away, not a $30 cab ride.
The best neighbourhood to sleep in is the one you can walk home to.
Culture & festivals
In June, the boulevard transforms: the MURAL Festival closes The Main to traffic and covers it in large-scale street art — one of the best times of year to stay here. And all summer, the Quartier des spectacles, a few minutes south, runs the Montreal International Jazz Festival, Just for Laughs and the Francos, free outdoor stages included.
- MURAL Festival — live mural art, on the boulevard itself (June)
- Quartier des spectacles — jazz, comedy, music, on foot to the south
- Mount Royal — the mountain and its lookout, heading up to the west
- Galleries, theatres and cinemas spread along The Main
Everything's on foot (or by metro)
From 2042, Saint-Laurent metro station (green line) is right there: the Old Port, downtown and the rest of the island are a few stops away. But the whole idea of Capsule Saint-Laurent is not needing the metro at all. The Plateau to the north, Chinatown to the south, the Quartier des spectacles to the west: do your day on foot and come back to sleep.
Our address on the boulevard
Our 56 high-tech capsules are built for travelers who spend their days outside: 24/7 reception, private showers, digital lockers, a communal lounge — and an enclosed capsule for actually sleeping, from $49 a night.
Sleep on The Main this summer.
Festivals, terrasses, nightlife — it all starts on the sidewalk. Book your capsule at 2042 Saint-Laurent and make Montreal your day, not your room.
